My Makeup Collection – Week Four : Primers & Bronzers

Week One : Foundations

Week Two : Concealers/Colour Correctors

Week Three : Powders

Hey guys!

So you’re probably wondering why primers and bronzers have been mashed together for this post but hey, why not? Both were going to be tiny posts so I combined them! It’s not the most normal combination but roll with me, guys.

As usual, I’m going to list the items I have with a bit of a review and put in photos. This week, I’m attempting to embed images from Imgur to save space on my WordPress storage. Therefore if you cannot see the images at all, please comment the issue below. If this works, this means I can take photos on my DSLR and therefore upload better quality photos to this blog.

If you haven’t already seen, I have a Makeup Master Post where I add every single brush or product that I buy for both my own purposes and your ~enjoyment~ so if you ever feel nosy and want to see if I’ve done a full review, they all get linked there.

But without further ado, lets have a mooch in my primers and bronzers!

I’m going to start with primers and this is the NYX Photo Loving Primer in Lavender. I bought this because I’ve heard it’s supposed to be a dupe for Smashbox’s primer (at least the clear one anyway) and because I do sometimes have sallow looking skin that needs a pick me up. This doesn’t dry tacky which does leave room for my foundation to not apply as well but it does do it’s job pretty well. It’s hard to say what I think of this primer definitively so I think I need to invest in some other NYX Primers…

The ELF Aqua Priming Mist is not my favourite at all! I know some people love it but for me, the spray is too violent and too much product is expelled and therefore gets wasted if it hits the atmosphere and not your face. For that reason I honestly cannot find it within me to love this primer. I’ve given it many chances and yes it dries nice and tacky so foundation does stick nice but at £9 a pop, at the rate it gets used I don’t see it being a worthwhile investment.

I’ve already done a full review on Baby Skin that you can find HERE but to put it in brief, I love it. It DOES erase my pores and although it dries really smooth, that has never altered how my foundation applies. I do tend to only apply it on my problem areas and not my whole face though. I do like mixing it with another primer that works better on my cheeks and forehead. I think at this point, most people own it anyway and heck, you probably do too!

Like with Baby skin, I’ve already done a review on the SkinKissed UK Vitamin C Serum and while it’s marketed as a serum, I find it does wonders for my skin when I use it as a primer. Not only does it work as a great primer, all it’s serum properties are working away at my skin under my makeup so my face doesn’t feel so dry when I take my makeup off. If you are considering buying this serum, then head to www.skinkissed.co and use my code SARCASTICGOOSE-20 for 20% off your purchase! This is an affiliate link so I do make some small cut of the sales so if you don’t like this, don’t feel obliged but hey, it’s a discount right?

My last primer is my MAC Cosmetics Fix+ Prep & Prime. I’ve used this once to wet my brush for a metallic shadow.

It had a violent spritz.

I am no really wary to use it and go through it really fast because that was £18! I know so many people love it and swear by it and I can only try it to discover my true verdict… I’ll get back to you!

Now onto bronzers. This MaxFactor Creme Bronzer was my first bronzer and is probably my favourite bronzer ever. While it is slightly shimmery, that isn’t noticeable on the skin and the mix of different brown tones in the bronzer makes it a pretty good bronzer even for my pale face. It’s not orange at all and blends really nicely with cream products. It’s a definite recommend!

My Makeup Gallery Good To Glow bronzer was bought for my Full Face Of Poundland Makeup video on YouTube and surprisingly? I liked it! When used with a light hand, it doesn’t show too orange and it does blend pretty well for a £1 product. Not only that the pan size is pretty decent and to reiterate, it’s only a pound! This would be a good bronzer to start with to enhance your skills before buying a high price bronzer and wasting that on training yourself in bronzing.

My last bronzer is actually 2 items but I am convinced they are the same product. Both are bronzers by Makeup Revolution and one I bought and once came in 2016’s advent calendar. I don’t really use the big bronzer because it is a bit too orange on my skin but while the smaller one is slightly cooler (but still pretty warm… if that makes sense), I use it all the time for my SFX looks. I use it to make skin look irritated and bruised so unless this is the look you’re going for, I don’t recommend it if you have pale skin.

And that’s all folks! My next post will more than likely be my blush collection or my highlight collection so keep an eye out for that!

Do you own any of these products? If so, which one and what do you think of it?

Lots of Love,
