A Cheese Toastie Subscription Box??? Part 5 of 5 – The White Choc Bomb

Hey guys!

So it’s with a heavy heart that I write my final review on my Cheese Posties subscription box. It’s been a great 8 weeks and if you’ve missed any of the parts, you can check out parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 by clicking on the relevant number.

For those of you who don’t know what on earth I’m talking about, I basically ordered a subscription box that gives me the ingredients to make my own cheese toastie every fortnight.

I meant to create a YouTube series but the last 2 toasties have arrived on days where I’ve not felt like filming and it’s not exactly something you can leave for a few days before opening. But I have done a blog post for each toastie to compensate.

So this week I got the white chocolate bomb which means that I got 3 sweet and 1 savory toastie in total. Not that I have an issue with this.

The ingredients were the usual bread and butter but the cheese was mozzarella and the other two items were raspberry jam and white chocolate buttons. This struck me as an intriguing idea but nevertheless, I assembled it, toasted it AND DIDN’T BURN IT THIS TIME!

If you’ve read my other posts, you’ll know that my toaster has burnt every other toastie and when I used my toastie machine, it came out anaemic. Today, it was just cooked perfectly and I could have cried!

The cheese was gooey and the jam and chocolate oozed out and while this made it difficult to eat cleanly, it was so nice to have the gooeyness that some of the last few toasties have slightly lacked.

By the time that you’ve pulled the toastie out the toaster and cut into it etc, the jam is still warm but doesn’t burn your mouth and the chocolate is slightly less runny and oh boy it was perfect. The stringy mozzarella was a perfect compliment to the other ingredients and I had originally thought this combination wouldn’t work.

Overall, I’d probably rank this my second favourite combination after The Canadian. It worked really well and none of the flavours were lost in the mix.

The service as a whole is a really great idea and personally, I think it’s filled a gap in the market. You see these boxes with nuts and seeds and other healthy things in but the ingredients to create your own cheese toastie of weird and wonderful flavours? That’s a brilliant idea.

I’ve never once had an issue with the quality of the ingredients or the freshness despite the fact they are posted to me. I’ve seen people who don’t get their toastie until 2 days later but mine has always come next day just in time for lunch. Nowadays, that is a damn near miracle with how frequently items don’t arrive on time.

I guess the big question is whether I’ll be renewing my subscription and the answer is yes but not yet. I’ve delayed my subscription for the new two months but after that? When I’m better off money wise, I’ll be going for a few more!

For me it’s been the highlight of my every other Thursday. I think the surprise element of not knowing which combination you’ll get is the best bit. The fact I could potentially have it delivered to my work is also an amazing idea to make sure that I eat on shift but would I really take a DIY Cheese Toastie into a hospital? Probably not.

It’s made me try new things and try combinations that I’d have never done myself and some combinations you look at disgust but they’re actually really tasty. If you don’t like straying away from boring food, don’t try this!

I think this would make a great gift as well as a great treat for yourself. It’s one of those fun novelty items that you just don’t expect to find.

But what do you think? Will you be ordering a cheese toastie subscription box?
