Influencers Made Me Buy It!

Hey guys!

We’ve all seen those videos where people talk about the things that influencers “made them buy” so I decided I wanted to share some items that I have been persuaded to buy because of beauty influencers.

I’m not a big YouTube watcher. Don’t get me wrong, I watch my fair share of YouTubers but I prefer Twitter to watching long extensive videos.

But when I do watch videos, I mainly watch the likes of Tati, Jeffree Star, Laura Lee, Manny MUA, Simply Nailogical and Glam & Gore… to name a few.

I don’t like to say that I am easily swayed to buy an item. I do keep hold of my money and only spend if there’s an offer on or I get a free gift. I rarely buy one off products unless I’m treating myself.

But sometimes I see a few YouTube influencers rave about a product and then see reviews from bloggers and decide it’s time I try it out. Or I just make the decision purely on face value, for example eye shadow palettes.

These days, it can be hard to trust people’s reviews because 9/10, if they’re a big influencer they’re being paid or received the product in PR but when you see people talk about a product over and over and actually use it, you start to realise that it probably is a product that they love and recommend.

I have 5 items that I went and bought at the recommendation of YouTubers:

  • Coty Airspun Powder- Extra Coverage
  • Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette
  • MAC Fix +
  • Sophdoesnails x Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette
  • Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Eyeshadow Palette

I’m going to share a little review of each product and tell you who influenced me to buy these products. You’ll probably be able to guess straight off the bat after seeing the products though!

Coty Airspun Extra Coverage Powder

TATI made me buy it

My grandmother gave me an Amazon voucher in the hope to stop me buying more makeup… Where she’s concerned, I bought a lamp and have saved the rest for a rainy day. I totally did not use my gift card to buy this powder.

I bought this item for £17 on Amazon (yes, gasp. I did too) when it usually retails for $6 ish over in the US.

I’ve seen Tati talk about this a lot and she seems to really like it and as far as trusting influencers goes, I trust Tati’s views and reviews quite a lot.

This powder does have a slight old lady smell to it but once you get over it, it’s a great setting powder. I bought Extra Coverage because I am a total full coverage girl and when I’m at work, I want heavy duty makeup that’s going to last me all day.

You get a lot of product and if you bought this in the US, you’d be getting an amazing deal. Here in the UK? It’s really damn pricey! But a little goes a long way so I can see this sticking around in my powder drawer for a little while yet.

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

MANNYMUA made me buy it

We’ve all seen and loved this palette and I bought this along with the LifeProof Foundation when Superdrug had a 2 for £12 offer on.

MannyMUA is the one influencer that I have seen rave about this palette a lot and for a drugstore highlighting palette, it’s pretty damn good.

There’s 4 highlight shades. One’s a cream and 3 are powders. My favourite is the rose gold shade but all are beautiful. These can be quite intense highlights but when used with a careful hand, they can be great for a healthy glow without looking like total glowing goddess.

The packaging is a tad frustrating for me because I HATE mirrored packaging (it’s a magnet for dirty fingerprints) but I do see myself buying a new one when I hit pan.

MAC Fix +

Cmon, how many influencers have you seen NOT use MAC Fix +???

As I mentioned in my Birmingham Shopping Haul, this can be considered a cult product and a staple of most beauty fanatics routine.

At £18, it is a touch pricey for my usual spending habits but for me, it has been worth it. As much as I don’t want to admit to it, I really do love this as a primer. My makeup game has drastically improved since using it and I really can understand why so many people love it.

I’ve not yet used it as a setting spray because I’m trying to be economical with how much I use but I think I need to just come to terms with the fact that I’ve fallen in love with this product and will be most likely repurchasing…

Sorry bank account.

sophdoesnails x Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette

SOPHDOESNAILS made me buy it

Of course Soph made me buy her palette! But in all honesty, when she did the reveal, I was hooked anyway!

For £10, this is one of the best palettes I’ve had from the drugstore and the shadows are all pigmented, really soft and buttery and so versatile- you can make so many different looks with this one palette.

I did do a full review on this palette and I mentioned then that I love this palette. Since owning it for a little longer, I’ve used it a lot and created some really pretty looks that are a bit different to what I’d usually create.

This is definitely a must buy!

Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Eyeshadow Palette

JACLYN HILL made me buy it

Jaclyn Hill, Manny, Laura, Nikkie… they all sold this palette until they could sell it no more and why?

Because it’s a bloody stunning palette.

It’s so pigmented and creamy and full of every colour you could ever want and OH MY GOD I died swatching it.

I am still to scared to properly use this palette because at £38, it’s not something I want to be repurchasing all the damn time. It’s also not very easy to clean and white is a magnet for mucky fingerprints, a real pet peeve of mine.

Like the sophdoesnails palette, I did a full review/first impressions post and again, it’s a palette I totally adore. I can’t think of anyone who does not love this palette.

So are there any products that influencers have made YOU buy? Let me know!

Lots of Love,

  1. I bought the Jaclyn hill palette because of influencers too! I don’t regret it at all, since the palette is honestly so beautiful and well made. I can use this palette for almost any type of look. The one thing I really want to try is the fix + ! I haven’t taken the chance to invest in it yet, but I’m so glad you liked it! Prolly when my primer/setting spray runs out, I’ll give it a try 🙂 xx
