So May was a rather expensive month for me in terms of make-up (rather unfortunately for both me and my parents) however, every cloud has it’s silver lining and I have a nice haul of products to share with you.
I won’t do full reviews of each products here. Full reviews of products can be found on THIS page by following the link for each product, as and when they are reviewed. I update all the time so watch that space!
If you want a specific product to be reviewed, you can always comment on that post or on this one and I will do it as soon as I can and will reply so you know when it’s up.
But enough chit chat!
Let’s get to the nitty gritty.
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation in shade 110 “Porcelain” – As discussed in my full review of this item, this is likely to become my every day foundation. It isn’t perfect and does take a few layers to get the coverage that I like but it is beautifully lightweight and matches my skin tone really quite well.
Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in shade 10 “Light” – This concealer isn’t bad for the price but it’s a tad too orange when on my face. With that being said though, it does blend nicely so that effect is gone but it is definitely best under the foundation if you use a very light foundation colour.
Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer in shade “Light” – I love this concealer! I wouldn’t say I rave about it like some other beauty bloggers do but it does the job of erasing my dark circles COMPLETELY which is a damn blessing! The applicator is super soft and I find it easier to apply than a wand like the Fit Me! concealer has. Overall, definite recommend!
Make Up Gallery Hide & Chic Concealer in shade “Ivory” – I paid a pound… it wasn’t bad for a pound. Am I rushing out to buy another… perhaps not. It’s not too cakey which surprised me and is a pretty good match for my skin tone (again, another surprise) but it doesn’t blend all that well. It claims to be natural coverage which I do agree with- it’s a medium coverage and isn’t too heavy so… eh, you may have to try this one out for yourselves!
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer – I first used the product with a friend about 6 years ago and I have been itching to buy it ever since and I FINALLY DID! I just remember it making my skin SO SOFT and it still does and it erases my pores completely. I was shook. Please, for the love of what’s good, go and buy this damn primer and relish in all it’s glory!
Maybelline MasterFix Setting & Perfecting Loose Translucent Powder – As a total newbie to setting powder (I set my makeup with pressed powder or powdered foundation usually), this was a leap into the unknown. I’d seen Jeffree Star use this on his channel and was like
“Hmm, need me some of this”
and it has stopped my foundation and concealer creasing PRAISE THE LORD. Definite must buy.
MaxFactor Creme Bronzer in shade 10 “Bronze” – Again, I have never owned a bronzer and as MaxFactor products were on 3 for 2 in Boots, I picked this up along with 2 more Creme Puff Blushes. This bronzer gives a beautiful, sunkissed glow and it has stopped me looking like Ol’ Casper The Ghost!
MaxFactor Creme Puff Blush in shade 30 “Gorgeous Berries” – I am not joking when I tell you I have found the most beautiful blushes in the universe! I bought the shade “Alluring Rose” 2 years ago and fell in love with it. So 2 years later (because that REALLY shows a love, doesn’t it) I bought 2 more and still love them. THEY LAST FOREVER. I have used my first one almost every day and it’s barely depleted. I have no idea how. “Gorgeous Berries” is a beautiful, warm pink with flecks of a purple-pink. I also bought shade 10 “Nude Mauve” which is a pretty light pink, mauve tone. Both have a glow to them and look beautiful with any makeup look. They are wonderfully versatile.
I Heart Makeup Unicorns Heart Rainbow Highlighter – I was soooo excited to get this but was fairly disappointed with what came. While it is a beautiful product with a deep pan, which is always good, the product itself was like putting glittered chalk on my face. I was gutted. While still delivering a really good glow, it just wasn’t a nice formula and I found it just too chalky to use.
Makeup Revolution Ultra Pro Glow Highlighter Palette – This palette is comprised of gold & peach tone highlighters and while I was hoping they would deliver more of a blinding glow, they seemed to be a tad more subtle. I’m not complaining as they are still beautiful products with a good formula and not too chalky but for £10, I would have expected a bit more glow but hey, that’s just me.
NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – I LOVE NYX cosmetics and my MUA setting spray was running out so I picked up this bottle from my local Boots store. It doesn’t leave your skin tacky and doesn’t have a dewy finish so yes, it is definitely matte finish. My only gripe is that it cause my mascara to run and leave me with black smudges under my eyes but maybe that was human error- I will have to carry on using it and see!
MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in shade “Halcyon” – This wasn’t a planned buy at all. I was actually running late for a job interview and left the house with a full face of makeup AND NO LIPSTICK so I had to run to my local Superdrug and pick up the first nude lipstick I could find and then run to my interview. I already own “Tranquility” in this range so it seemed like a good call to buy another of a product I trust. However, it was not a nude as I expected and more of a coral pink! I could have screamed! But nevertheless it was a beautiful liquid lip and I will still buy more just will maybe swatch before buying!
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in shade “Kitten Heels” – I was looking for a red lipstick to match my dress for a family get-together and picked up this liquid lip from Boots. I already own shades “Soft Spoken” and “Oh, Put It On” so knew this would be a good-un. I wasn’t let down; NYX did it again and left me with gorgeous, photo perfect lips! I was a happy, happy girl!
Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Metallic Lip Kit in shade “Sovereign” – This was originally going to be my lipstick for the mentioned family meeting but the NYX one stole my heart… This lip kit is pretty good but the lip pencil lets it down. It doesn’t apply very easily at all but the liquid lipstick is a gorgeous shade of gold. I didn’t think gold would suit me but it is very pretty and has actually served me well for many looks.
Makeup Revolution #revoholiclips – This unfortunately isn’t available any more as it was a promotional item in Superdrug but it’s a pretty good 12 shade lip palette with a combination of nude, pink, red and purple tones. The pigment in these shades are very good for a freebie however, on my palette you can see little oil bubbles on some of the shades and these in particular are fairly greasy and oily but it doesn’t affect the overall quality that much.
Make Up Gallery Gold Glitter Chick Flick Eyeliner – If you’ve read my full review on the PoundLand eyeliners, you will know my love for their eyeliners and this one is no exception! It’s a strong, gold eyeliner and is super easy to apply. MORE COLOURS PLEASE POUNDLAND.
Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Waterproof Mascara – I bought this mascara literally only because MannyMUA did the campaign for it and I love it. I already have super long lashes (I am blessed, I know) but this just takes them to another level.
Maybelline The Pixie Collection Limited Edition The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara – What a mouthful! But this mascara is beautiful too and when used with Colossal Big Shot… who needs falsies?!
Maybelline The 24 Karat Nudes Eyeshadow Palette – This palette is gorgeous but does have it’s flaws. While the colours are super pigmented (like the gold for example), some colours aren’t true to their pan colour. For example, the green is pretty much a brown which is super disappointing because I was looking forward to an earthy, Jade green. The palette itself is more jewel and earthy colours and for a shimmer palette, it’s pretty darn good.
Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Acid Brights – All I have to say is that I needed a palette with neon colours and once again, Makeup Revolution delivered the best possible quality £4 will get you. Some colours are a tad powdery but overall, the pigment is beautiful and I can see myself having some fun with this palette in the future!
Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Flawless 3 Resurrection Palette – I just had to buy this palette. It’s colour scheme could be the dupe of Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette but for £8, it was a total steal. Yes the quality isn’t the same as ABH’s palette BUT they are still full of pigment and I just love it. Need I say more?
Makeup Revolution #revoholiceyes – Like it’s lipstick counterpart, #revoholiclips, this product is sadly unavailable now as it was a freebie when you spent £12 on Makeup Revolution in Superdrug. It isn’t the most exciting palette of colours and I would have preferred the #revoholiccheeks palette but as I ordered to my local store, I didn’t get this choice unfortunately. But, I still may go to my local Superdrug and ask if they have a cheek palette I can swap it for.
Lots of Love,
