So after seeing the lovely Jade Mayhead do a series of posts on her makeup collection, I decided to share mine with the world! If you haven’t already seen, I have a Makeup Master Post where I add every single brush or product that I buy for both my own purposes and your ~enjoyment~ so if you ever feel nosy and want to see if I’ve done a full review, they all get linked there.
For part one I am going to talk about my foundations and I think I shall do each individual item type separately every Friday for the coming weeks. This may take a while but I want to space them out and have different posts between them to make everything read nicely.
My first foundation is the No7 Beautifully Matte Light Foundation in the shade Calico. This is my only luxury foundation and I love it. I love the formula and the coverage and how well it matches my skin tone. I also use the Match Made Concealer and the fact that you can get a concealer that complements the foundation is wonderful but at £14.50 for the foundation, it’s pricey considering I use foundation most days. I also don’t like that even when there’s 1/4 of the bottle left, you can’t get it out the bottle at all. For some reason the pump won’t let me get the product out so a good chunk of product gets wasted.
The next foundation is the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation in the shade 110 Porcelain. You can read my full review HERE where I also compare it to the No7 Foundation but I do really like this foundation. It matches my skin fairly well and for me, it feels lightweight and wears well through the day. I like that with a squeeze tube you have more control over how much product you use instead of having a metered pump where you my get too much product and waste some. It is quite runny but other than that, it’s a cracking foundation for the price.
The MUA Matte Perfect Foundation in Fair is probably the worst foundation I own. It is like water and makes me look orange despite this being the lightest shade. I just didn’t get on with it at all and I think I bought it as a replacement for my MaxFactor foundation last year. It’s just dreadful and I’m not quite sure why I still have it but it is OK for SFX makeup at college so I don’t have to use my expensive foundations.
I originally bought this Technic Matte Mineral Foundation in Cafe Au Lait for my sister but it turned out it was far too pale for her. I cannot use it as a standalone foundation because it’s so full coverage, I can’t remove it properly! It suits my skin tone well but it’s so thick and cakey it doesn’t work for me at all. I now mix it with runnier or darker foundations to lighten them and make them a better consistency or, like with the MUA foundation, I use it for SFX makeup at college.
This is actually the first foundation I ever bought and it’s the Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation in Porcelain. I have nothing against this foundation and I do use it from time to time but it can be a bit too orange for me if I’m slightly paler that day. It’s got good coverage and wear and as long as I add a little bit of moisturizer, this foundation really works well.
This foundation… as you can see in my YouTube video I have mixed feelings about it. Wearing it as a normal foundation did not work at all and my face felt so greasy but when I tried rubbing it in like a moisturizer, it clung to my dry patches and I really did not like it. I’m willing to give it another try because the I really like the colour on me- it gives my skin some colour and tone instead of making me look ashy white.
I bought this Dermacol 208 Foundation from WowCher just because I was desperate to try it and I didn’t really want to pay the full £13 for it. I wanted to mainly use it as a concealer under my eyes but it has proved to be a nice foundation for all over my face. I don’t like that it is quite heavy and leaves my skin feeling quite oily afterwards but for SFX and small patches it’s becoming a favorite.
And lastly I have 3 Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundations to go in my media makeup kit for college. I’ve yet to try them but I have heard such good things so I am really hoping that they do the job!
So that is my foundation collection! It isn’t really anything special but I have a good range of foundations for when my skin is behaving different or I have really dry patches or I’m really pasty. I do combine them and make them work together but I rarely use the same foundation twice in a row.
My favourite foundation will always be my No7 match made foundation and nothing will ever beat it. I am truly smitten and intend to stay that way but now, it’s become a special occasion foundation for when I want my makeup to look amazing and I’m not just pottering around the labs at work.
How many foundations do you have and which one would you say is your favourite?
Lots of love,
