My Cheese Posties subscription is only one toastie away from being over and today I received my penultimate toastie.
For those of you who have no idea what I’m on about, I suggest you check out Part 1 where I explain the concept of a cheese toastie subscription box. For those of you who can’t be bothered to sit and read it, I basically discovered a site where I could order a set amount of subscription boxes that contained the ingredients to make a cheese toastie.
I’m not a huge fan of blueberries at all but I didn’t omit blueberries from my orders purely because it was a jam rather than actual blueberries. There’s just something about blueberries that I cannot stand, unless they’re in a muffin or in jam.
From the word go, this didn’t seem like a very adventurous combination… mascarpone and jam… it seemed like a jam on toast sandwich and that’s pretty much all it was.
The box contained the usual bread and butter but for this toastie, there was blueberry jam, mascarpone and fresh mint. I added some vanilla essence to my toastie to add more of a sweet flavour to it but it didn’t enhance the flavour at all. The letter I got with my toastie said to add vanilla to ‘hack’ the toastie but I didn’t find it helpful.
It was very much a crispy jam sandwich. I had no trace of mint in it and the mascarpone made the bread soggy inside. It was overall quite disappointing considering the previous two had been so tasty and well thought out.
Personally, I think there should have been a different cheese that complemented the sweetness of the jam. Heck, I’d have even put cheddar in the sandwich to balance out the taste!
As you may have noticed, today’s post is a lot shorter and there’s no YouTube video to accompany it. This is because I’m having a bit of a hard time and my heads not in the best place so I do apologise! Normal blogging should resume soon!
