No matter what I’m doing, if I can support a smaller business then I will choose to do so over going to a larger one.
This is the case when I get my nails done. I found someone who runs a smaller business rather than go to a salon or chain of salons. When I buy clothes, I do like to look at Etsy shops (I LOVE slogan tees) and eBay.
After recently buying a desk with a HORRIFIC white board behind my computer, I decided that the space needed some pretty prints.
So I headed to Jemma & Ellis’ shops to buy some prints. I’ve bought from both shops before. I bought a Valentines Day print from Jemma and helped Ellis with her Tote Bag Kickstarter & bought some cute pins for my lab coat. Both are smaller businesses run by bloggers either on Etsy or their own website.
There’s something about their designs that just fit my ~aesthetic~ and the feel of my room. While I want my room to be cute yet sophisticated, I want some fun elements and pops of colour to show my personality.
Both shops had a sale on so I did buy a little more than I probably should have… But nevertheless, I got some beautiful items and I want to share them with you!
From Jemma’s shop, I bought 3 prints and her ‘Live Colourfully‘ badge that is going straight on my lab coat!… when I actually remember to take it to work!
The three prints I bought were the Pink Ballgown Illustration, Pink Abstract Print & Plant Collage Print. The theme of my room is definitely pink, grey, white and rose gold and these prints either fit the theme or complement the theme.
The Live Colourfully pin has been on my to buy list since Jemma started promoting it and I KNEW it would look amazing with all the other pins on my lab coat! I have quite a few colourful badges on my lab coat because who wants a plain white lab coat? Not me.
My favourite print is probably the Ballgown print as there’s something about it that makes it so… elegant. Even though its just a print. If that makes sense? The abstract print adds a block of colour to the back of my desk and the plant print complements all the other plants I now have dotted around my room.
I only bought prints from Ellis’ purely because I have bought badges etc before and this was solely a decoration mission!
I bought the Carousel Horse Print, ‘Create’ Print, Rainbow Quote Print, Hot Chocolate Postcard, Unicorn Believe Print & Llama Balloon Print. These prints, again, either work with my colour scheme or accent it/add pops of colour.
My favourite print is definitely the Rainbow Quote Print. It reads:
Be A Rainbow In The Thunder
And it just strikes me as the motivational quote that I need A LOT.
These prints have definitely spiced up the white back board of my desk. Maybe my iMac screen is so big that you can’t really see a lot of the prints but there’s still that colour there and that’s what matters! As my room isn’t entirely finished, I may rearrange my desk anyway so that you can see all the prints.
If you haven’t already, go and check these shops out and give them some support! If you have bought from Jemma and Ellis, what have you bought??
Let me know!
Lots of Love,
